Shirley McDonald Mayfield

(November 30, 1928 – December 18, 2021)

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at the McDonald Chapel Presbyterian Church in Collins for Shirley McDonald Mayfield, 93 of Collins, who passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at her residence.

Reverend Grover Gunn will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the McDonald Chapel Cemetery in Collins.  Billy M, King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at the McDonald Chapel Presbyterian Church, McDonald Chapel Road, in Collins.

Pallbearers will be Mackie Mayfield, Joey Mayfield, Michael Mayfield, Fisher Miller, Jake Miller, Lawson Mayfield, Caleb Mayfield, John Denmark, Jon O'Neal, Jared Miller, Jamie Dugan, Isiah Dennis, Beau McManus, and Don Waltman.

Mrs. Mayfield was born on November 30, 1928 in Collins, Mississippi to Mack and Minnie Lee McDonald.  She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  Mrs. Mayfield retired as a sales representative for Avon after numerous years of service.  She was an active member of the McDonald Chapel Presbyterian Church and served as the church pianist for over sixty-five years until her declining health.  Mrs. Mayfield was a sweet and kind-hearted person and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Mayfield; her parents, Mack and Minnie Lee McDonald; and three brothers, Milton Ray McDonald, James W. McDonald, and Harold McDonald.

Survivors include four sons, Joe Darrell Mayfield (Gail) of Collins, Ronnie Mayfield (Retha) of Crystal Springs, Barry Mayfield (Rita Gayle) of Collins, and Kirby Mayfield (Rachel Britt) of Collins; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Covington County Gideons, P.O. Box 1562, Collins, Mississippi, 39428.
