Obituary

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Mount Olive for Sidney Ray Lewis, 81 of Mount Olive who passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at his residence.

Reverend Foy Killingsworth, Mr. Dwight Carr, and Reverend Bob Phillips will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Mount Olive City Cemetery with military rites at graveside. Special music will be provided by Mr. Randy Williams, Mrs. Mary Anne Shoemake, and Mr. Jay Baggett. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 11, 2016 and from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Mount Olive.

Pallbearers will be Ty McKee, Brett Lewis, Larry Calhoun, Mike Cumbest, Robert Johnson, Steve Walker, Steve Smith, and Mike Donahoo. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Lockridge, James Johns, David Weems, Pete Redmon, Bobby Dossett, Phillip Lewis, Dan Napier, Joey Johnson, Jeremy Johnson, Nolan Lewis, and Douglas Shoemake.

Mr. Lewis was born on January 17, 1935 in Mount Olive, Mississippi. He was the owner and operator of the Lewis Grocery and Market in Mount Olive for forty years. Mr. Lewis was a member and past deacon of the First Baptist Church of Mount Olive. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserve.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Issac Lewis and Lula Ates Lewis; five sisters, Leora Bowden, Marjorie Flynt, Ruth Townsend, Dorothy Marques, and Annette Saunders; and three brothers, George Lewis, Billy Lewis, and Jack Lewis.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years, Eleanor Carr Lewis of Mount Olive; one son, Tommy Lewis of Mount Olive; two daughters, Patty Lewis Johnson and her husband, Robert of Mount Olive, and Pam Lewis of Brandon; one sister, Francis Woods of Mount Olive; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Mount Olive Building Fund, P.O. Box 143, Mount Olive, Mississippi, 39119.
