Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 29, 2024 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Sue Young McCall, 91 of Collins, who passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at the Merit Health Wesley in Hattiesburg.
The Reverend Dr. Hal Hood and Mrs. Candy Massengale Grissom will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Collins City Cemetery in Collins. Special music will be provided by Mrs. Marcy Brown, Mrs. Jamie Baggett Kiker, and Mr. Jay Baggett. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Monday, July 29, 2024 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3202 Highway 49, Collins, MS.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Baggett, Jackson Baggett, Tyler Counts, Glenn Madden, Danny Young, Paul Young, Glen Young, and Pete Young.
Mrs. McCall was born on February 10, 1933 in Lincoln County, Mississippi to Doc and Marie Porter Young. She was one of seven children born to the marriage. Mrs. McCall retired from Covington County after twenty-eight years of service as the District Three election commissioner. She was a very dedicated and devoted member of Ora Baptist Church. Mrs. McCall served as a former Sunday School teacher, Sunday School superintendent, Vacation Bible School director and teacher, and WMU director.
Mrs. McCall was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She enjoyed spending time with her family playing cards, and doing puzzles. Mrs. McCall was very loved by her family and will be greatly missed by them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Doc and Marie Porter Young; her husband of sixty-years, Enoch McCall; four brothers, Billy Lewis Young, Jimmy Roger Young, Lloyd Young, and Glen Young; and one sister, Faye Young Silvio.
Survivors include her two daughters, Debbie McCall Baggett (Jimmie) and Rhonda McCall Purvis (Stoney), all of Collins; one sister, Gail Young Rushing of Vidalia, Louisiana; six grandchildren, Tammy Baggett Madden (Glenn), Jeffery Baggett (Jaime), Jay Baggett, Jamie Baggett Kiker, Pebbles Purvis Counts (Tyler), and Toni Brooke Purvis Strickland; twelve great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
