Thaddious Lloyd Speed
(April 16, 1938 – February 20, 2023)
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 24, 2023 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Thaddious Lloyd Speed, 84 of Seminary, who passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023 at the Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.
Dr. Timothy Hubbard and Mrs. Rhonda Craig will officiate at the services with a private family interment in the Speed Cemetery. Special music will be provided by Dr. Timothy Hubbard and Mr. Bill Rogers. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Friday, February 24, 2023 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3302 Highway 49, Collins, Mississippi
Mr. Speed was born on April 16, 1938 in Seminary, Mississippi to Joseph Lyman Speed and Betty Leggett Speed. He was a graduate of the Seminary High School Class of 1956. Mr. Speed retired from Illinois Central Gulf Railroad as a locomotive engineer after forty years of service. He was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Mr. Speed was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. He really enjoyed spending time with his canine companion, Shelby, and listening to western swing music. Mr. Speed was a member of the Covington County Genealogical and Historical Society. He spent many hours researching his family's history and ancestors.
Mr. Speed was a loving husband. father, and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Lyman Speed; and Betty Leggett Speed; two brothers, Larry Speed and Ted Speed; and a son-in-law, Dwayne Desoto.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-five years, Vivian Breland Speed of Seminary; one son, Stan Speed, and his wife, Kim of Okeechobee, Florida; one daughter, Kimberly Speed Desoto of Hattiesburg; one grandson, Quinton Speed, and his wife, Kelsi of Okeechobee, Florida; and a host of nieces nephews,and other family members.
