Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2020 at the Union South Baptist Church Cemetery in Seminary for Thomas Wayne "Tommy" Mixon, 63 of Seminary, who passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2020 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.
Dr. Timothy Hubbard will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Union South Baptist Church Cemetery. Special music will be provided by Christopher Wren. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Pierce, Mark Mooney, Robert Aultman, Jimmy Stapleton, Alton Folkes, and Mackie Moulds. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Knight, Phillip Lovitt, and Bill Cooley.
Mr. Mixon was born on January 30, 1957 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Mr. Mixon was the former owner and operator of the Shady Acres Village in Seminary. He was a member of the Seminary Baptist Church. Mr. Mixon enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was an avid fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Kenneth Mixon and Eva Lucille Locke Mixon; and one brother, Anthony D. Mixon.
Survivors include his wife of forty-three years, Martha Folkes Mixon of Seminary; one daughter, Brandi Mixon Mooney of Seminary; one son, T.J. Mixon, and his wife, April of Seminary; two sisters, Tammy Mixon Cranford, and her husband, Bo of Collins, and Jo Mixon Nix, and her husband, Billy of Ocean Springs; six grandchildren, Tyler Bradley Dossett and his wife, Mary Kathryn, Anna Marie Dossett, Chloe Elizabeth Mooney, Karleigh Brooke Mooney, Lila Kate Mixon, and Ellie Lane Mixon; two great-grandchildren, Bradley Kase Dossett and Brooks Thomas Dossett; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
