Tommie Layton Burnham

(October 21, 1938 – October 5, 2020)

A private family funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2020, at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Tommie Layton Burnham, 81 of Collins, who passed away on Monday, October 5, 2020 at his home in Collins.

Bro. Ken Walters will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Lone Star Cemetery in Collins.  Special music will be provided by Mr. Guylon Gregory.  Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

A private family visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2020, at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Butch Dawsey, Paul Keys, Tyler Keys, and Will Dawsey.

Mr. Burnham was born October 21, 1938, in Covington County.  He was a charter member and deacon of Lone Star Baptist Church.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend.  He was a Godly man that raised his family in church.  He enjoyed spending time fishing, hunting, cattle sales, and most of all spending time with his loving family.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Burnham and Helen McRaney Burnham; one nephew, Carlon Warren.

Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-six years, Shirley Walters Burnham of Collins; two daughters, Vicky Burnham Dawsey and husband Butch of Monticello and Kristy Burnham Keys and husband Paul of Collins; five grandchildren, Tyson Dawsey, Will Dawsey, BreighAnna Russell, Tyler Keys, and Leighton Mikell; ten great- grandchildren; two sisters, Zonia Ellen Warren and husband Cooper and Mary Alice Gregory and husband Guylon; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family request in lieu of flowers for donations to be made to St. Jude Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN,  38105.
