Velma Mae Jernigan Stuckey

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, January 17, 2022, at Springhill Baptist Church Cemetery for Velma Mae Jernigan Stuckey, 98 of Collins, who passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at the Arrington Living Center in Collins, Mississippi.
Reverend Steven Bush will officiate at the service with interment to follow in the Springhill Baptist Church Cemetery in Collins, Mississippi. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 17, 2022, at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3302 Hwy 49, Collins, Mississippi 39428.
Pallbearers will be Gid Stuckey, Mitch Stuckey, Tony Stuckey, Will Wheat, Bill Wheat, and Matthew Tally.
Mrs. Velma was a devoted member of Springhill Baptist Church in Collins, Mississippi. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She enjoyed spending time in her garden, sewing, cooking, crocheting, and most of all spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Earl Stuckey, son, Wayne Stuckey; parents, Colon and Annie Sumrall Jernigan; sisters, Corrine Jernigan Ruffin, Christine Jernigan Smith, and Verdie Jernigan Harvey; six step-siblings, Clarice Whead, Ivon Smith, Susie Temple, Billy Ethridge, Claude Ethridge, and Dick Ethridge; and daughter-in-law, Carlon Stuckey.
Survivors include her two sons, Carol H. Stuckey and his wife, Sandra and Glynn Stuckey and his wife, Jan both of Collins; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Vivian Ethridge Usry of Clinton, MS; and a host of other family members and friends.
