Virginia C. Herrin

(July 27, 1947 – September 26, 2022)

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Virginia C. Herrin, 75, of Collins, who passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022, at her residence.

Reverend Reece Douglas, Jr. will officiate the services with interment to follow in the Blakely Cemetery in Collins. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3302 Hwy 49, Collins, Mississippi.

Pallbearers will be Shannon Breazeale, Randy Carter, James Carter, Jonathan Thompson, Joseph Carter, and Joey Runnels. Honorary pallbearers will be Doyle Ward and Bobby Boutwell.

Mrs. Herrin grew up in and around Seminary, and married Mr. James Herrin on January 7, 1965, in the Ora Community. They made their home in Collins and raised two children, Darron and Jennifer. Mrs. Virginia had a genuine passion for cooking and cleaning and a love for her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. A member of Blakely Creek Missionary Baptist Church, her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, T.J. and Marjorie Carter; a sister, Marjean Thompson; and two brothers-in-law, Barty Graves and Lavon Breazeale.

Survivors include her husband of over 57 years, James Herrin of Collins, MS; son, Darron Herrin (Mendy) of Collins, MS; daughter, Jennifer Crosby (Jim) of Collins, MS; grandchildren, Megan Herrin and Jacob Crosby; brother, Thomas Carter (Terri) of Seminary, MS; sisters, Ann Lowery (Mack) of Seminary, MS, Betty Graves of Seminary, MS, Carolyn Norris (Billy) of Bassfield, MS and Rita Breazeale of Seminary, MS, and Theresa Norris (Harold) of Bassfield, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
