Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, September 18, 2017 at the Willow Grove Baptist Church for Vondee Mitchell Ethridge, 86, of Sumrall, who passed away on Friday, September 15, 2017 at the Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.

Reverend Rocky Holston and Reverend Jimmy Hood will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Willow Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Collins. Special music will be provided by Julia Rae Dean and Bob Thames. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be held Monday, September 18, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the Willow Grove Baptist Church in Collins.

Pallbearers will be Richard Ethridge, Jr., Christopher Ethridge, William Mitchell, Al Metcalf, Dustin Mitchell, and Sam Bingham.

Mrs. Ethridge was born on Saturday, February 14, 1931 in Collins, Mississippi. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Ethridge retired after twenty five years of service as school teacher in Broward County, Florida and then after ten years of teaching in Mississippi. She held a Master's Degree in Education with many other teaching certificates. Mrs. Ethridge was a member of Willow Grove Baptist Church in Collins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Sherman J. Mitchell, and Gertrude Burkhalter Mitchell; her husband, Edwin Malcolm Ethridge; one brother, John Wayne Mitchell; and one sister, Doris Hutto.

Survivors include two sons, Dr. Edwin Clark Ethridge (Julie) of Huntsville, Alabama and Richard Carl Ethridge Sr. (Sandie) of Sumrall; three grandchildren, Christopher Ethridge (Sarah), Elizabeth Ethridge (Al), and Richard Ethridge, Jr. (Cecily), 6 great-grandchildren; one brother, Max Mitchell (Kathleen) of Collins; one sister, Lois Dickens (W.M.) of Hattiesburg; and a host of nieces and nephews.
