Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Vondell Sanford Guthrie, 89 of Seminary, who passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at the Merit Health-Wesley Medical Center in Hattiesburg.

Brother Ronnie Sanford will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Union South Baptist Church Cemetery in Seminary.  Special music will be provided by Brother Ronnie and Mrs. Dianne Sanford and Mr. Joel Crosby.  Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins.

Pallbearers will be Sterling Dale Sanford, Jason Sanford, Ken Sanford, Roland Dossett, David Touchstone, and Roger Sanford.

Mrs. Guthrie was born on April 1, 1931 in Seminary, Mississippi to Robert and Ora Ingram Sanford.  She was a graduate of the Seminary High School Class of 1949.  Mrs. Guthrie was a loving wife. mother, and sister.  She retired from the Forrest County Welfare Office after thirty-one years of service as a clerk.  Mrs. Guthrie was a member of the Jesus Name Tabernacle Church in Seminary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ora Ingram Sanford; her husband, Marvin D. Guthrie; one sister, Teresa Sanford Tyson; and one brother, Sterling Louis Sanford.

Survivors include one son, Maxwell Guthrie of Montgomery, Alabama; three brothers, Andrew Curtis Sanford and Denvil Elton Sanford, both of Seminary, and Willie Harold Sanford of Collins; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
