Dr. Weston Edmonds Folse

(September 14, 1925 – December 31, 2022)

Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at the Collins City Cemetery in Collins for Weston Edmonds Folse, 97, of Collins, who passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at the Veterans Home of Collins.

Father Mark Ropel officiated the services, and inurnment was in the Collins City Cemetery. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins was in charge of the arrangements.

Dr. Folse was born on September 14, 1925, in Jackson, Mississippi. He attended St. Joseph High school and entered the United States Navy on December 28, 1942. He became a medic and then attached to the United States Marine Corps, with whom he participated in 4 major campaigns during the Pacific Ocean Theater of World War II, including the Battle of Iwo Jima. Dr. Folse graduated from the Tulane University School of Medicine and received postgraduate training at Columbus City Hospital in Columbus, Georgia. A diplomat of the American Board of Family Physicians and a fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice, Dr. Folse served as President of the South Mississippi Medical Society and as Chief of Staff at Covington County Hospital several times. He practiced in Collins, Mississippi, for 36 years before he retired in December of 1990. Dr. Folse lived in Pass Christian, Mississippi, for 15 years, where he was active member of the St. Paul Catholic Church, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and the Pass Christian Yacht Club. As a result of Hurricane Katrina, Dr. and Mrs. Folse returned to Collins in August of 2005, and they made their home there until Mrs. Folse's passing in 2015. Dr. Folse then relocated to Pensacola, Florida, until he moved to Germantown, Tennessee, in 2019 and ultimately returned to Collins as his health declined.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Lorraine Davis Folse; parents, Louis Joseph and Josephine Sentilles Folse; sisters, Genevieve Folse Wadsworth and Marion Folse Reed; brothers, James Lloyd Folse and Joseph Alter Folse; son-in-law, Harold "Shag Turnage" and grandson, Jimmy Weston Folse.

Survivors include his children, Gary Weston Folse (Diane) of Pensacola, Floria, Laurie Anne Folse Magee (Clyde) of Mize, Mississippi, Karyn Anne Folse Turnage of Germantown, Tennessee, Timothy Edmonds Folse (Joyce) of Germantown, Tennessee, and Andrew Michael Folse (Stephanie) of Mandeville, Louisiana; grandchildren, Marlena Hand (Timmy), Kyle Magee (Ashley), Bradley Magee (Katie), Kelly Pace, Robert Turnage (Nikki), Laura Folse (John), Luke Folse (Annie), Virginia Folse, Michael Folse, Matthew Folse, and Evan Folse; greatgrandchildren, Issac Hand, Allyson Hand, Melody Magee, Elijah Magee, Josie Magee, Adleigh Magee, Ella Magee, Cohen Magee, and Cooper Pace, and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
