Funeral services for Mr. William Wallace Allred, 84, of Collins, will be held Saturday, July 15, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary of the Collins Presbyterian Church, 501 South Second Street in Collins. Mr. Allred passed away Tuesday, July 11, at the Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.

The visitation will be held Friday, July 14, from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3302 Highway 49 in Collins.

Rev. Tommy Shields and the Honorable Judge Charles Pickering will officiate the services. Music will be provided by Barbara Brister, Amy Pruitt, and James Arrington Goff. Pallbearers will be his nephews and great nephews, Wallace Wilson, Bart Trigg, Warren Trigg, Charles J. Floyd, Jim Quinn, Josh Floyd, and Ben Quinn. Honorary pallbearers will be Si Bondurant, Colonel Edward C. Waller, the Elders of the Collins Presbyterian Church, and the members of the Collins Rotary Club.

Interment will be in the Collins City Cemetery in Collins with Military Rites at graveside. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Allred, a native of Collins, received his BS degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and his law degree from the University of Mississippi. He served in the Mississippi Legislature from 1960-1964.

He had been in the oil business since 1959. He served as commissioner of the Mississippi State Bar; Vice-President of the Mississippi Oil & Gas Lawyers Association; and was a charter member of the Board of Directors of the Mississippi Independent Producers & Royalty Owners Association of which he served as president.

Mr. Allred was an active member of the Collins Presbyterian Church in Collins where he served as an Elder, a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and choir member. He was a member of Gideon's International. He was active in many civic organizations that included the Collins Rotary Club where he served as President and Secretary and was a Paul Harris Fellow in Rotary International. Mr. Allred also served on The Salvation Army Advisory Board for Covington County, and was a former member of the Board of Directors of Jones County Junior College Foundation.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Wallace Allred and Jessie Day Allred; a sister, Elizabeth Allred Wilson; and a brother, Paul Day Allred.

Survivors include his wife of forty-seven years, Joanne Kendrick Allred of Collins; his daughter, Jessica Allred Newman and her husband, Chris, of Collins; his grandchildren - Savanna Brooke Newman, Nicholas William Newman, and Sara Price Newman, all of Collins; and his sisters, Billie Allred Quinn of Laurel and Madge Allred Trigg of Collins.
