Graveside services will be held at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2020, at the Collins City Cemetery for William Elton "Bill" Daniels, Sr., 91 of Collins, who passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2020, at the South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel.
Reverend Mike Davis and Reverend Wesley Kirkley will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Collins City Cemetery in Collins. Special music will be special selections provided by the family. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
A visitation for the immediate family only will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2020, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins. The funeral home will adhere to the state's protocol on social distancing and no more than twenty family members in the funeral home at one time.
Pallbearers will be his family members and friends.
Mr. Daniels was born on April 13, 1929, in Laurel, MS, to the late Ira and Gladis Daniels of Stringer, MS. He gave his life to the Lord at Union Baptist Church in Bay Springs, Ms. He also attended Grace Outreach Church in Seminary, MS. He graduated from Stringer High School. He joined the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He got married and moved to New Orleans, LA, where he started his career as a successful business and salesman. He then moved to Collins, MS, where he has lived the last forty-five years. He and his wife were the original owners of Southern Florist in Collins, MS for over twenty-seven years. After retirement, he worked as a pre-need agent for Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home for seven years. He was a member of the Olive Branch Masonic Lodge Post #34 and Hamasa Shriners Temple. He was a very humble Christian man and will be missed dearly by his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret Buckley Daniels; his parents, William Ira and Gladis Holifield Daniels; one son, John Allen Daniels; a son-in-law, Roger Dale Boykin; one sister, and brother-in-law, Lorene and Edward Swaenepoel
Survivors include his three children, William E. "Billy" Daniels, Jr. and his wife, Debbie of Collins, Alice Daniels Boykin of Taylorsville, Susan Daniels Nelson and her husband, Mitchell of Moselle; nine grandchildren, William E. "Billy" Daniels III, Mindy Ann Daniels Welford, Leslie Brown, Adam Woodard, Angel Daniels, Brad Boykin, Chad Boykin, Brook Gatlin, and Brennan Nelson; thirty great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
