Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home for William Harold Roberts, 93 of Collins, who passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at the Arrington Living Center.
Reverend Joseph Bird will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Collins City Cemetery with military rites at graveside. Special music will be provided by Mrs. Janice Shanks, Mrs. Jackie Magee, and Mrs. Carolyn Norris. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2017 and from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Greg Walker, Jerry McGuire, Tommy Flynt, Roy Keys, Norman McLeod, Jeff Loveless, and John Loveless.
Mr. Roberts was born on October 2, 1924 in Mount Olive, Mississippi. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Roberts retired from Tennico Corporation as a Regional Manager after thirty five years of service. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Roberts was a member of the First Baptist Church of Collins. He was a member of the Mount Olive Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite in Atlanta ,Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis Jacob Roberts and Maude Elizabeth Rogers Roberts; his wife, Olza Flynt Roberts, and one sister, Joyce Roberts Loveless.
Survivors include one son, Harold Fredrick Roberts, and his wife, Melody of Winter Park, Florida; one daughter, Harolyn E. Roberts Garrison, and her husband, James A. of Shalimar, Florida; one sister, Elcyne Roberts of Brandon; four grandchildren, Todd Roberts, Tamara Meier, Miranda Garrison, and Hallie Johnson; seven great-grandchildren, Derek Meier, Zach Meier, Grant Meier, Matthew Meier, Charlie Johnson, Lilly Johnson, and Chase Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Scottish Rite Children's Hospital, 1001 Johnson Ferry Road, Atlanta, Georgia, 30342.
