Lane, Sr.

A Private Family Graveside Services was held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the Lone Star Cemetery in Collins for Willie George Lane, Sr., 94 of Collins, who passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at the Simpson General Hospital in Mendenhall.
Reverend James Walters officiated at the services with interment following in the Lone Star Cemetery in Collins. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins was in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be family members and friends.
Mr. Lane was born on May 7, 1926 in the Dry Creek community of Covington County to Troy Galloway Lane and Willie Velma McRaney Lane. He graduated from the Lone Star School and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business from the University of Southern Mississippi. Mr. Lane retired from Western Geophysical Company after thirty-eight years of service in the oil exploration industry. He proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Lane was a member of Lone Star United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Elizabeth Nicholson Lane; his parents, Troy Galloway Lane, and Willie Velma McRaney Lane; one son, Willie George Lane, Jr.; and his brother, Alfred Decell Lane.
Survivors include one son, Robert "Randy" Lane Sr. , and his wife, Vicki of Hattiesburg; one daughter, Linda Lane Dilgard, and her husband, Barry of Maryville, Tennessee; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Gainer of Dallas, Texas; six grandchildren, Jennifer Domingos (Doug), Rob Lane, Jr., (Maribel), Hilary Paine (Patrick), Michelle Klebba (Martin ), Kylie Carpri (Vincent), Sara Best (Jeffrey); eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
