Mrs. Willie V. Magee King

(October 28, 1926 – June 2, 2021)

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday. June 8, 2021, at the Collins City Cemetery for Mrs. Willie V. Magee King, 94 of Collins, who passed away on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at the Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.

Reverend Glenn Shoemake and Reverend Gary Roberts will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Collins City Cemetery in Collins.  Special music will be provided by Miss Larsen Sanford.  Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins.

Pallbearers will be Jason Leonard, River Leonard, Lance Leonard, Riggin Lott, Lynn Mayfield, Guy Easterling, Mike Campbell, Neal Campbell, Andy Duckworth, David Shoemake, Drew Kelly, Jimmy K. Polk, Keith Lundy, and Scotty Peden.

Mrs. King was born on October 28, 1926 in the Williamsburg community of Collins, Mississippi to William Eppie Magee and Virgie McDonald Magee.  She was a loving wife, mother, nanny, and sister.  Mrs. King retired from the Covington County Chancery Clerks Office after twenty-three years of service as a deputy clerk. She worked under the administration of Doyle Keys and Lynn Mayfield.  After her retirement, Mrs. King worked as the hostess at Johns Funeral Home and Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home for numerous years.  She was a member of the Collins United Methodist Church.

For the last few years, Mrs. King, affectionately known to everyone as Nanny, enjoyed spending time visiting with customers at her granddaughter's flower shop and boutique.  She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy M. King; her son-in-law, James N. "Jimmy" Leonard; her parents, William Eppie Magee and Virgie McDonald Magee; one brothers, W.G. Magee; and one sister, Louise Magee Miller.

Survivors include her daughter, Virginia King "Sally" Leonard of Collins; two grandchildren, Holly Leonard Lott, and her husband, Riggin, and James N. "Jason" Leonard, II, all of Collins; one great-grandson, River Leonard of Collins; and a host of other family members and friends.
