Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Winnie Mae Sanford Hooks, 83 of Collins, who passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at her residence.
Brother Jamie Coulter will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Williamsburg Baptist Church Cemetery in Collins. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, and from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3202 Highway 49 Collins, MS. 39428.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Glenn Sasser, Kenneth Nelson, Asa Cluff, Gage Smith, Austin Craft, Ashton Jones, and Shawn Cluff.
Mrs. Hooks was born on May 3, 1941 in Covington County, Mississippi to Harvey and Zadie Allen Sanford. She was the owner and operator of Hooks Fitness Center and Tanning. Mrs. Hooks was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She enjoyed spending time with her family and will be greatly missed by them. Mrs. Hooks was a member of the Williamsburg Baptist Church in Collins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Zadie Allen Sanford; two daughters, Sandra Hooks Ross, and Anita Gayle Hooks Cluff; two sons-in-law, John Ross and Donny Cluff; and two brothers, Rodney Sanford and Wilmer Sanford.
Survivors include her husband of sixty-seven years, Sammy Glen Hooks of Collins, MS.; three daughters, Brenda Hooks, Tammy Hooks Pittman and Kathy Hooks Thornton, all of Collins, MS.; one brother, Bobby Sanford (Clara) of Escatwpa, MS; one sister, Laverne Sanford McDonald (Don) of Collins, MS; a sister-in-law, Peggy Sanford of Collins, MS.; nine grandchildren, Tiffany Chanel Nelson, Aaron Glenn Sasser, Kenneth Larry Nelson, II, Tonya Leigh Pittman Jones, Heather Brook Sasser, Shawn Anthony Cluff, Asa Chandler Cluff, Carol Lynn Pittman Howze, and Gage Smith; twenty-one great-grandchildren, Trinity Walker, Samantha Walker, Patricia Noel Sasser, Corbin Nelson, Layla Nelson, Teagan Nelson, Addison Nelson, Austin Craft, Ashton Jones, Kaitlyn Jones, Mackson Jones, Hudson Gentry, Fox Delk, Shane Cluff, Cash Cluff, Jayden Harrison, Jasper Harrison, Trent Howze, Trevor Howze, Bentley Smith, and Kyler Smith; four great great-grandchildren, Carter Craft, Zayden Craft, Oakland Carter, and Ashtin Blaire Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members
