Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at the Sanford Missionary Baptist Church in Seminary for Woody Woolwine, Jr., 79 of Seminary, who passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024, at the Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.
Brother Wayne Woolwine, Brother Joe Lott, and Brother Clay Williamson will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Jessie Bryant Cemetery in Seminary with military rites at graveside. Special music will be provided by the Sullivan Family Quartet. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm on Saturday, April 20, 2024, and from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, 2024, all at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3202 Highway 49, Collins, Mississippi.
The pallbearers will be Greg Sullivan, Barry Lowery, Richard Woolwine, John Loveless, Don Lowery, and Charlie Sullivan. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Eakes, Claude Eavenson, Walter Graham, Bruce Rawls, and Steven Mapp.
Woody was born on March 5, 1945, in Beaumont, Texas to Woodrum Woody Woolwine Sr., and Marie Bellow Woolwine. He was one of twelve siblings born to this marriage. After his high school graduation, he proudly served his county in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. The rest of his working career was spent in the flooring industry till his retirement. Woody was a member of the Sanford Missionary Baptist Church in Seminary.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrum Woody Woolwine Sr., and Marie Bellow Woolwine; his first wife, Betty Lawrence; his daughter, Trica Woolwine Duncan; two brothers, Earl "Bud" Woolwine and Jerry Woolwine; and one sister, Sylvia Woolwine Herring.
Survivors include his wife of seventeen years, Candice Gaynell Bryant Woolwine of Seminary; two sons, Lancer Woolwine and Kevin Woolwine, both of Vidor, Texas; three brothers, Carroll Woolwine of Beaumont, Texas, Wayne Woolwine (Wilma) of Seminary, Mississippi, and Roger Woolwine of Corpus Christi, Texas; five sisters, Brenda Cantella of Austin, Texas, Jeanette Willett of Vidor, Texas, Dianne Buoy (Mike) of Magnolia, Texas, Karen Holloway (Perry) of Jasper, Texas, and Roxanne Jenkins (Steve) of Lumberton, Texas; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
